Greetings: I have been searching for a series of books written by the early church fathers. Recently, I have found a series titled, 'Ancient Christian Writers Series', which consists of 61 volumes. My question is, would this be a good resource for me, as a Catholic? If not, is there a series you would recommend? Thank you, Zoe from Texas.   The book seeks to stimulate a thirst for the Fathers and to reveal how rich the Fathers are in theology and piety. As such, it is not an exhaustive study of the Fathers. Rather, it presents six Fathers/patristic texts that reveal key themes of that era of church history and hopefully stir up interest and make the Fathers increasingly a known land.

(Obviously the Volume I index only covers Volume I, the Volume II index covers I and II). If other early Fathers of second century are found to be in the same unbroken line, it is difficult to see where or how the plan of Jesus for a Church was altered, undermined, or “corrupted.” Rather, the supposedly corrupt institutional Catholic Church has clearly existed since apostolic times.
